Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair 2004

Stall design at the Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair (IHGF), an event held twice every year, by the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts, or EPCH, as it is more popularly known, is a tiring, frustrating, yet very highly rewarding experience. Tiring and frustrating, because IHGF, being by far, the most important and most awaited event for the Indian handicrafts and gifts industry, makes the exhibitors very design, quality and yet, very price conscious at the same time, leading to huge headaches for the designers. Rewarding, because the outcome is usually something that the designer can look back on with pride and a satisfied smile!

This fair also holds a very special place in our hearts, because this is the fair that we have been working in regularly, since the beginning of our career.

Booth design at IHGF 2004

In the 2004 show in October, we designed a booth for Zakaria Shahid Industries. A leading name in the handicrafts and gifts export circles, as also in the domestic retail market, Zakaria Shahid Industries, wanted the stall to be flambouyant, yet not cross the line to be classified as boisterous. Displaying some unique items in glass, metals, combinations of the two, and a whole range of candles, they wanted the stall design to complement their very vibrant products.

The client’s willingness to experiment, and their appreciation of design and color schemes, was a big encouragement for us to go in for a combination of fluorescent green with black, that we finally used in the booth.
