Designing and constructing booths at THE Heimtextil, in Frankfurt, Germany, the largest show for home textiles, made-ups and contract textiles, anywhere in the world, is always a challenge and a pleasure, at the same time! We are scared of doing it, and yet, we are always looking forward to do it. The opportunity it offers as a designer and as a stand contractor, is tremendous, to put it mildly!
This year, we had the honour of designing and setting up for two companies, both of whom have been long time patrons of our design firm, Balaji Overseas from Agra, and PAP Exports from Karur.
With a 60 sq.m. raw space, Balaji Overseas, manufacturers of bath mats, rugs, carpets and made-ups, wanted a stand that would be imposing and yet elegant. Budget was not a major constraint, but the design had to be good enough to justify the expense. And, the stand needed to be divided into two distinct spaces, one for the mats, rugs and carpets, and the other for the made-ups.
With this design brief in hand, we prepared some six different design options, that ranged from the subdued to the flamboyant, from the elegant to the wacky, and from the ultra-colourful to the monochromes. What we finally came up with was a design that responded to the many colours, hues and shades of their product. That responded to the highly varied textures of their fabrics. And that conversed with the product and its buyer at the same time.
We think we did a good job. People at Balaji Overseas, think the same. Do let us know, what you think. Get in touch with us. We will love to hear from you!
